Paul Naschy Jacinto Molina Through the Years

His real name was Jacinto Molina Alvarez and was born Sept 6, 1934, in Madrid, Spain.

Paul was raised modestly through the Spanish Civil Battle, and sought to get away from the real-life horrors around him by experiencing films and comics available at the time. He loved viewing movies like Frankenstein Matches the Wolf Guy (1943) at an early age (age 11) it was a true source of inspiration for him (his later films would be filled up with personal references to it).

He was a super talented athlete (performed soccer for the institution group) and was a weightlifter who became the light-weight champion of Spain in 1958.

Paul also wrote Traditional Western Pulp novels under the pseudonym Jack Port Mills and proved helpful as an illustrator who did album cover artwork for a Spanish record label.

In 1967 he wrote the script for Frankenstein’s Bloody Terror (1968). When he was ready to film, no actor was good enough to perform, so he was urged to ‘just do it himself’. The rest was history, as  werewolf Waldermar Daninsky (He reprised this personality in over twelve following sequels) and other great characters came to life ( the Mummy, Jack the Ripper, Dracula, the Hunchback, the Frankenstein Monster, the Phantom from the Opera, as well as the Devil).
