We don’t have the chance to discover a good quality black metal band from Eastern Europe very often, especially in these years when all new bands sound similar to each other. The band I want to introduce to SV readers is the innovative Serbian group from which fans can expect both obscure lyrics, and the unique esoteric music.
The name of this musical monstrosity is Zloslut, which literally means feeling the forthcoming evil in their native language. If we compare the quality of the music, many heavy metal fans stated that the band Zloslut is the successor of the band The Stone, the pioneers of the Serbian black metal, while the others think they are actually side-by-side. Although The Stone is 15 years older, Zloslut is about to conquer both the European scene and fans from the rest of the world. Foundation of the band takes back to 2010 when frontman Agnarion started composing music. He released premier demo Abyss of Eternal Deception, a year later. At that time Zloslut was one-man-band and it had lasted so until 2016 when the leading member invited Yersinestris, Inomatanas, and Nav to join his project. As a one-man-band Agnarion released two albums in native language: Ominous Horizon – Bringer of Damnation, Despair, and Death and In Trance with the Unknown Silhouettes. First significant domestic shows were booked and performed in 2013: Winter Carnage Festival and Darkness Rising Festival. Zloslut’s first appearance out of their country was in France’s capital city of Paris in 2015.
Zloslut on stage
The latest chapter in Zloslut’s history was releasing of the newest album entitled Sahar, first in the English language. As well, this was a new dawn for the band, the new start. It involved every band member in writing texts and composing music, which is well accepted by their listeners. Sahar is a Persian word for dawn, and with using of that kind of the title they wanted to come closer to Oriental philosophy, way of life, mysteries, and the occult. As well, frontman stated that Orient world is a huge inspiration in music making, as it is in their private lives. So, the fans can expect similar lyrical themes in future works.
The new song from the Sahar album can be heard here.
In conclusion, this band is offering strong and diverse compositions, and trying to prove itself among the thousands of bands who don’t deserve that amount of reputation. The quality of Zloslut is slowly reaching more listeners who recognize the real art of composing music, and immense effort of the band members.
