Some believe in ghosts, others don’t. I was an unbeliever until I heard stories from actors of unexplainable events, which actually happened to be true. So far, I haven’t had any encounters nor I have seen any strange activities, but I cannot get my head off from these testimonies. It is a well known fact that ghosts and apparitions are attached to one place where they dwell in the eternal limbo between this and the other world. There are many places worldwide which people believe are possessed by evil spirits, such us villas, castles, simple houses, even hotels. Here are some of those places haunted by ghosts:
Windsor castle – in this British royal summer residency people see spirits all the time. In this castle the ghosts of King Henry VIII, mad King George III or Queen Elisabeth I can be seen. There are even ‘ghost tours’ organized by castle authorities.
Stirling castle – located in Scotland, it was Queen Mary Stuart’s palace. The ghost of Queen Mary’s maiden has been seen here, and when it happens people see it as a bad sign for whole Britain. Queen’s maiden is known as Green Lady.
Dragsholms Slot – Danish workers has found a woman’s skeleton behind a wall during the castle excavation. Her ghost dressed in white has been seen in the corridors of this palace.
Winchester house – it was a property of Sarah Winchester, wife of famous William Winchester, a riffle creator. She was convinced that her mansion was possessed, so she ordered that the house should be renovated as a labyrinth, to escape ghosts. Today, the house is a popular tourist destination in California and an inspiration to filmmakers.
Borley Rectory – the most haunted house in England, located in famous Suffolk region. Shivering songs of the ghosts and footsteps can be heard at night. Many have seen flying items in the rooms. Some have seen writings on the walls ‘help me Marianne’ many times. Her name often echoes across the corridors. Ghost hunter Harry Price discovered a woman’s skeleton in the basement in 1943 which he believed it was Marianne’s.
Wolfsegg castle – probably the Germany’s most haunted castle. Many have seen a presence of a woman dressed in white dress. Her name was Klara Von Helfenstein and she was murdered by her husband who was convinced she had an affair with other man. As well, strange creepy voices can be heard from the caves beneath the castle.
Amityville house – this house inspired many artists in the USA. It is located on Long Island, New York. In 1974 six people were killed here by their family member Ronald DeFeo. Next year the Lutz family moved in the house. But their stay in the Amityville house wasn’t long. After just 28 days they left the house because they claimed they were hunted by the unnatural and unexplainable things.
Poveglia mental hospital – located outside of Venice, Italy, it was a place where a doctor practiced medical procedures on his patients. Probably the doctor’s mental condition was beyond repair as he claimed to be haunted by ghosts who lived in the hospital. At the end he committed a suicide.
Castle of Brissac – as well as Wolfsegg castle is being haunted by a woman’s ghost, so it is in the castle of Brissac in France. The ghost of Brissac is called Green Lady and it has been terrorizing locals ever since. She was daughter of King Charles VII and murdered by her husband.
